Aim and Objectives of this Section |

 The section intends to stimulate the thinking of the human mind, the most complex information processing system known.
Aim: The aim of this section is to familiarize the readers with the wealth of data and tools available for understanding of concepts of Earth System Science and to provide specific examples of data resources, software tools, value added data products that promote ESS educational discovery. An additional aim of this section is to provide a brief theoretical background to the topics of remote sensing, geographic information systems, spatial data analysis, and data visualization.
Educational objectives: After systematically and completely following this section readers should be able to
Appreciate the significance of data and tools in teaching and learning ESS concepts.
Know where to look for data, value added products, and tools that support ESS education.
Use some data sets, tools, and graphic products for teaching ESS related topics.
Understand the basic concepts of remote sensing, geographic information systems, modeling, visualization, spatial data analysis, and data integration as applied to promote the understanding of ESS.
Realize the limitations of interpretations based on available data and models.
